There is a rectifer in there already. It should have 4 leads 3 yellow and a black? The 3 yellow take the AC from the mag and the black should be the DC output.

Ok, I am assuming it isnt in the instrument cluster? I just wired in a small battery on a switch. It might be a bit hillbilly, but effective. I am running it at 15 volts. It seems the voltage changes the reading, so I just experimented a bit until I came close to the actual coolant temp I was checking with my fluke.

At any rate, it is back together and not overheating. I am assuming the flange was the problem. What appeared to be a small hole turned out to be a huge leak. I'm lucky I caught it in time to prevent nuclear meltdown.

On a side note, I do think the new flanges must be made from Ionized fairy dust and gold plated unicorn horns. I was blown away at the price.

Yeah, it's crazy what they charge for some stuff and then you get something that looks like it should cost an arm and a leg and its dirt cheap. The later doesn't happen often enough.
