Bad luck
So I just bought a 1997 ski doo formula Sl. I got a good deal on it but after I got it home I drove if for about 3 kms and it seized on me.
The guy I bought it from said it had been sitting for six years.
Any ideas as for what would have happened? Also what it will cost to rebuild. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Any gas powered toy that has been sitting needs to have the fuel system serviced. The carbs should have been disassembled and throughly cleaned. Fuel delivery issues on a 2 stroke are not good. If the carbs are restricted the carbs will lean out and sieze the engine. You'll need to tear the top end apart to inspect the damage before you can talk price on a rebuild. Feel free to ask any questions and post some pics so we can see the damage.

I was told when I bought it that he cleaned the carbs and put on new fuel lines. I was thinking that maybe the oil injection pump might not be working.

The oil pumps are rock solid. Perhaps the guy didn't adjust the oil pump after he put it back together? Do you know which cylinder is dead? The mag side (recoil side) or the pto side (primary clutch side)?
I haven't looked at the fiche to see what kind of throttle cable it has. I'm assuming it splits 3 ways. 2 for the carbs and one for the oil pump?
